As we accelerate into 2013 and anticipate all that the Lord has for us in this new year it's also good for us to look back and remember what the Lord has done. He has been so good to us! ...Keep Reading

Don't Miss the Manger

Last night the children of Grace Community Church performed "Camel-Lot" which was a great success. It was an evening full of fun, songs, laughter and the good news of Jesus Christ. What a joy it was to watch our kids pour their hearts into this performance and to see so many of our children's gifts begin to develop and blossom. A special thanks goes out to Linda Rawleigh for initiating, planning and directing "Camel-Lot"-excellent job! We also want to thank Mikaela Hinterberger, Jeremy Perl and Stephanie Rawleigh for helping Linda with all the details....Keep Reading

From Youth Camp to Eternity

Posted onSeptember 13, 2012 | 0 comments

Who would have ever thought that a group of several hundred teenagers would care about eternity? Who would have dreamed that they would willingly sit through hours of teaching about the reality and implications of eternity, heaven and hell and what it means to worship God with an eternal perspective? And who would have predicted that they would respond with careful thought, conviction and repentance that would lead to an increase of passion and love for their God? What a blessing that many of our kids were faces in the crowd at Youth Camp 2012 being affected by the Spirit of the Living God!...Keep Reading

Light, Darkness and Little Bear

Posted onJuly 31, 2012 | 2 comments

There are people everywhere ruled by the kingdom of darkness that need to hear the good news of the Kingdom of Light. Yes, many will reject this message but some will receive it. But in order to receive it and beleive it they need to hear it. And we are the messengers; the small lights sent to point out the main Light. Share the good news, spread the seed of the gospel of Jesus Christ liberally. Like Big Bear, show them The Light; the all consuming, all powerful, loving and merciful Savior, Jesus Christ. Because Jesus is who they need and Jesus is all they need....Keep Reading

This Momentary Marriage

Posted onMay 11, 2012 | 0 comments

The idea and purpose of marriage is under attack in our society today. Even for those who follow Christ it can be challenging to maintain a God glorifying, grace centered marriage; a marriage that reflects the relationship between Christ and His church. But despite the challenges, that is what we're called to display-the gospel of Jesus Christ....Keep Reading

The Creeping Charlie of Legalism

I am fighting a battle right now with an enemy that is relentless, merciless, and only multiplies when you try to mow it down. You guessed it, I am battling with the weed called "creeping charlie"! It began behind my shed and is now taking over not only my lawn, but two of my neighbors lawns as well. I bought some weed killer specially formulated to kill creeping charlie but from what I've read the stuff is really hard to get rid of. One person joyfully recounted how they finally took a blow torch to it and watched each leaf wither and burn with a kind of cruel pleasure. Creeping charlie reminds me of a spiritual weed that can run amok in the Christian's life and in the church if we're not careful. It's the "creeping charlie of legalism" - the noxious weed of trying to earn God's approval through our own efforts....Keep Reading

Saint Patrick's Day: A Christian Response

Posted onMarch 16, 2012 | 4 comments

Saint Patrick's Day is tomorrow and that means shamrocks, green beer, parades and leprechauns all in celebration of...wait...what? Is it the celebration of the little short guy with the red beard and funny hat, the Irish heritage or just the color green? I'm not sure-any excuse for a party, right? Well, like most holidays today, the meaning and significance of St. Patrick's Day has been lost to commercialism and pleasure seeking. But there is an appropriate Christian response to this "holiday". Let's start with some history....Keep Reading

A Good Reminder

Posted onMarch 16, 2012 | 0 comments

Below is a post that Mary left on the GCC Facebook page. I was encouraged and provoked by it and thought we would all benefit from a reminder of the "why" behind what we do. Thanks for posting Mary. The following is written by Tam Hodge, the wife of Pastor Brent Hodge (Cross Point Hendersonville near Charlotte, NC) and I thought it would encourage GCC servants of the Lord!...Keep Reading
