Life Together

Just when it seemed as though we had enough going on to "stretch our faith", the Lord seems to be stirring my heart and the hearts of others in GCC to prayerfully consider some fresh steps of faith. I think of that old phrase "being on the stretch for God".

What does that mean? Not sure yet. We'll be having a prayer meeting/discussion this Sunday night as a church family. But two things that I believe the Lord wants to remind all of us:

1. The church is meant to be a supernatural enterprise, one in which the gracious hand of God is constantly being seen - in great and small ways. Yesterday I found myself asking the Lord to protect GCC from ever becoming a church that is complacent. A church that can operate quite nicely (and practically) without any aid from the living God. A church that takes no risks and has no testimonies. That is a description of a spiritually dead church! Without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb. 11:6).

2. We must always connect our faith to our mission. Why are we here? Why did God plant this church 5 1/2 years ago? How can we regrip our mission with fresh faith, vision, and even risk-taking? Our mission and our passion is the spread of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ and seeing lost souls become saved souls by the power of God through the preaching and witness of His church. Here's something encouraging: that's God's passion too!

We serve an awesome God! No telling what He will do next as we seek to follow Him in faith!
